AFTER THIS LIFE....

by Alan Yusko

Lets start by looking at a great multitude of people around the Throne of God:

Rev 7
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

Just look at the above verses that show many people around the throne of God. They are praising God for His great salvation that He provided for them. These people are not thinking about their earthly homes, cars, money etc. Instead their focus is on thanking God for their eternal salvation!

In light of that thought, what really matters in life? Today many are obsessed with running and getting a big-paying job so they can buy all kinds of things for their personal enjoyment. Lost people are caught up with this temporal world and live their lives in search of happiness, pleasure, and things. Thoughts as to what happens after the grave are blocked out and not considered. Non-Christians go through life with little thought of the afterlife. Some subscribe to a false religion while others turn atheist or agnostic and reject the concept of an afterlife.

The common belief is that life consists of time spent here on planet earth. Since the non-Christian really does not know what will happen after death, they choose not to think about that subject.

Now lets look at the verse quoted above. Verse 9 above talks about a huge number of people who are around the throne of God. These are saved people who have accepted the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Verse 10 shows that they are very grateful and thankful for the salvation provided through the Lord Jesus and His finished work on the cross.

If you look closely, the things of the world cannot be seen. People do not have their fancy cars or expensive houses. These earthly things are not even on their minds. Instead the central issue is the salvation of God. They are very happy and thankful for God's salvation!

SAVED or NOT SAVED

What we are viewing here is a short peek into the afterlife. When this life is over there is only one thing that matters. Salvation is the issue. Worldly goals and wealth really do not matter in light of eternity. The only thing that matters when this life is over is that a person is saved! The Word of God clearly states that there are only saved or lost people. Being saved or lost depends on the acceptance or rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 3
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

There are only two types of people alive here on earth. There are saved people and there are unsaved people. After death there continue to be only two types of people. Saved people and lost people. The saved people have a home in heaven and they will be before the throne of God singing out praises for salvation. Lost people are not saved. These people have chosen to reject the Lord Jesus as their Saviour and Lord. As a result they have chosen to pay for their own sins themselves. Sadly the penalty for sins that they face is eternity separated from God and burning in hell, the lake of fire.

Rev 20
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Come to the Lord Jesus today for salvation! He is the only way that a person may be saved!
