THE BEAUTY OF GOD
by Alan Yusko

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

I'm going to do some speculating here. This is my best guess but I think it is a very good one. Here on earth we are to walk the walk of faith. The Christian is to walk by faith and not by sight. This means what we know about God is learned from His precious Word. We have a home in heaven although we have never seen it. Did you ever wonder what it looked like? I personally believe it will be so great that we cannot even imagine the glories and beauties we will find there.

One day we will stand before the the Lord Jesus and see Him in all His radiant beauty. I believe when we see the Lord Jesus with all His power and glory it will be a exceedingly beautiful sight to see. I've witnessed to people and I've heard many reasons why many reject God and His free gift of salvation. People just don't want to give their lives to the Lord Jesus. Instead they love the sin and attractions of the world much more. How many times have you heard people say something like: 'Can we pick up girls in heaven? Can we still go to bars? NO! well then I don't wanna go! If I can't have the things I like then I don't want to go to such a boring place. I'd rather go to hell. That is where all the action is. Besides I would rather be with my friends than to sit, bored, in heaven plucking a harp.' Have you ever heard people say crazy things like the above? I certainly have. Little do they realize that heaven is so beautiful with the presence and glory of God that it cannot be contained.

Listen as we read a description of what happened to the apostle John as he saw the Lord Jesus:

Rev 1
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

Notice John's reaction in verse 17. He literally fell at the feet of the Lord Jesus as if he were dead. I believe the beauty and glory of God knocked him off his feet and took his breath away.

What is my point? Well, I believe heaven is filled with the exceedingly beauty of the presence of God as well as His glory, wisdom, and power. In fact it is so great that we cannot even imagine how beautiful it will be in this life here on earth. Look at the below verse:

1 Corinthians 2
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Try as we will we cannot fathom the beauty and glories of heaven in this earthly life. Think of the greatest, most beautiful place and guess what? What heaven is like has not even entered into your mind!

So when the Christ rejector makes the claim that he does not want to go to a boring place like heaven, this man is deceived! The devil has blinded his hardened Christ rejecting heart so that he prefers to stay in his sin and immorality rather than to accept Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. Give him the Gospel and pray that God's Holy Spirit will open his lost sin hardened heart.

2 Cor 4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
