In this article we will quickly look at the life of a tare from beginning to maturity. In nature, a tare is a plant that grows beside the wheat. It was a problem in Israel in Old Testament days. The tare would start to grow along with the wheat. Until maturity the tare looked identical to the wheat. A farmer could not tell the wheat from the tares in the early stages of growing. Only at harvest time and maturity did the tare change noticeably from the wheat. The tare was smaller, had a grayish color, and was toxic and could make a person sick. At harvest the farmer would separate the wheat from the tares.
In the world of Christianity there are also tares. At first (as a young tare) they are very hard to tell apart from the true Christian. Tares are in the church but they were never saved. They do like to call themselves "Christian" and some even become pastors, deacons, Bible teachers etc. However, as time passes they mature and change noticeably from a truly saved Christian. The tare falls far from the Lord and develops a love for the same things that the devil loves. Tares are the people who encouraging rock music, occultism, and ecumenicism with false religions. Just by looking at the fruit of ones life and the fruit of solid Bible doctrine, a tare can be easily spotted.
Lets look at the birth of a tare. The tare starts his taredom by being exposed to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus. The tare hears the Gospel maybe once or maybe several times. The tare pauses and thinks about what he has heard. Further exposure to the Gospel happens and the tare tastes and sees the Lord is good. Maybe he gets a feeling of love or of acceptance or even some warm fuzzy feeling. At some point the tare makes a pseudo commitment to the Lord Jesus. At that point the tare begins to call himself a "Christian". I still remember one person, years ago, who loved his bars, booze, and loose women. He also didn't want to go to hell. He wanted to accept Jesus as a "hell insurance plan" of some kind. This is the attitude of a tare. They like the good things about the Gospel but they still love their sin and darkness.
So the tare has made some kind of pseudo commitment to the Lord Jesus. The tare will begin to attend church. The tare will always tend to be liberal in doctrine and have a dislike for sound Bible doctrine. Biblical teachings like separation from the world of sin and holiness is very distasteful to the tare. Over time tares may get involved in the church ministries and could even rise to a position of leadership.
As the years pass the young tare becomes a mature and older tare. At this point the tare gets easy to spot. As a true believer (wheat) grows and matures they draw closer to the Lord Jesus in love and in faith. The tare does the opposite from the wheat. Over time the tare grows closer to the devil and his ways. It is true the tare will call himself a Christian and will even be offended if someone suggests otherwise. However, the tare develops a love for the same things that the devil loves. Rather than growing closer to the Lord Jesus, the tare grows closer to his lord, the devil. As a result the tares will love rock music, occultic entertainment, uniting with false religions, liberal teachings, heresies, and false teachers.
As previously mentioned the older/mature tare is easy to spot. Tares tend to have a violent spiritual reaction when presented with sound Biblical doctrine. Tares are the ones who invented and popularized the phrases: Don't judge, unloving, narrow-minded, heresy-hunter, don't you dare touch God's anointed, Pharisee, etc. The tares do not have a heart or mind for sound Biblical doctrine. They are totally unteachable. A person cannot reason with a tare as the tare will not listen. Instead the tare will react with anger, mockery, or indifference.
2 Corinthians 11
13 For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves
into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed
as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to
their works.
Here are some examples of tares that can be seen by any saved person with some discernment:
Word of faith followers or Toronto Blessing crowd. These tares are charismatic and rely in feelings rather than on the Word of God. The leaders fleece people for money and many have become very rich. These people expect people to blindly accept their false teachings without testing doctrines in light of the Word of God. Those who dare to pray and check the Scriptures are called heresy-hunters and are threatened with curses for daring to touch God's anointed. People open to this type of deception accept all false teachings of these wolves and will gladly send them money so the tares can grow very rich.
Rock music. Tares love rock music and have been very successful in getting this demonic music accepted in churches. As a result all churches that use rock music are liberal churches open to heresies and false doctrine. Personally, I have never seen a Church remain faithful to the Lord Jesus and sound Biblical doctrine while bringing in Satan's rock and roll music. Rock music is never just a single thing but it is a package deal from the devil. Tagging along with rock music is the Satanic fruit of: rebellion, liberalism, compromise, worldliness, backsliding, falling away, immorality, drugs etc. Tare pastors who have allowed this filth into their congregations will pay a severe price before the Lord!
Titus 1
16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him,
being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work
reprobate.
The occult: I never thought I would see the day when people would call themselves "Christian" and enjoy spells, witchcraft, and the occult. But that day is here! Tares love the same things as does the devil. Therefore tares love the occult. Tares defend and encourage the use of the popular occult entertainment of this evil day. They "enjoy" Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons, occult computer games, occult TV shows, and occult movies. Tares get very angry when told they are not a Christian because of their love of witchcraft and the occult. A saved person would not love and enjoy the occult which is an abomination to the Lord. This sin is so serious that in Old Testament days people who did the occult were stoned to death! It was a capital offense. However, today it is called harmless fun and entertainment by the tares who try to disguise themselves as Christian.
Here is a very sad example: recently I heard of a lady who had a bad feeling about her son playing the occultic dungeons and dragons game with his friends. To encourage him to stop guess what she did. She went out and bought him some Lord of the Rings junk. This is literally from the occult fire pan directly into the fire! Sadly, many people encouraged her as they advised that there was no problem with occult games or even dungeons and dragons. Remember the tares love to call themselves "Christian" and they justify their use of the occult. Here is God's attitude with the occult in any form:
Deut 18
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his
son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a
wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD:
and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive
them out from before thee.
Immorality. Just look at the moral lives and a tare can be easily spotted. A tare has no problem with pre-marital fornication. A tare may also have been married several times as they see no problem in switching spouses when a better model is available. I've even seen tares start dating other potential mates while waiting for the divorce papers on the previous marriage. Tares are now openly supporting the sin of sodomy that is being popularized and legalized in the world. Tares are very different from God's people the wheat! Just look at their moral life (or lack thereof!). But always remember that God will judge the immoral:
Hebrews 13
4 Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but
whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
1 Corinthians 6
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the
body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against
his own body.
Liberal doctrine. Tares deny the foundations of the Christian faith. Today tares deny the Trinity, salvation by faith apart from works, the Lord Jesus as the only way to be saved, and many other foundational doctrines. They can be easily spotted by their love of heresy.
Prov 14
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are
the ways of death.
APOSTASY IN THE LAST DAYS AND CONCLUSION
Prov 8
36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul:
all they that hate me love death.
Here are some points to consider related to the above verse:
- Those who reject God and the Bible will love death
- The more a person rejects the Lord Jesus the deeper into darkness that person will fall.
- Those who love death hate the light (negative reactions to sound Biblical doctrine)
We are now living in the last days before the coming of the Lord Jesus to rapture home His people. As a result expect a great falling into apostasy of professing Christians. See the below verse:
2 Thess 2
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall
not come, except there come a falling away first, and that
man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Before the antichrist rises there will be great apostasy in the world as God and the Bible will be rejected. As a result expect tares to abound in these last days. Sadly, this is the case today. Tares are everywhere and many hold prominent positions in churches. They can be easily spotted by their love of wickedness.
Christians have been warned therefore all the tares and deceptions in these last days should really not be a surprise to God's people. All I can say is to hold fast to sound Biblical doctrine and eagerly await the return of the Lord Jesus! The tares are heading to judgment, death, and destruction!
