The lost and perishing are spiritually blind. The Bible is a closed book to them and they cannot understand it. You see the Bible is a Spirit revealed book. A lost person without God's Spirit cannot understand the Bible. A lost person may try on their own power to understand and many even write theological books, yet they cannot apply the truths of the Word of God to their own hearts. They are spiritually blind and separated from God.
Sadly, there are many who profess to be Christians today who attend church and make the claim to be a Christian. Yet they have never repented of their sin and received the only Saviour, the Lord Jesus.
These are the same people who push the rock and roll music and who love occult entertainment (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings etc). When confronted with Bible verses that expose evil and heresy, there is no effect on their heart or conscience. For example they can be made aware that the occult is very evil by seeing the following verse:
Deut 18
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh
his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that
useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter,
or a witch.
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or
a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto
the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy
God doth drive them out from before thee.
Both Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are filled with all the above abominations. But do the above verses from God's Word convince the lost person who professes to be a Christian to stop doing his occultism? Of course not. Instead, I have seen these people get angry and insulting as their demonic entertainment joys are challenged by the Word of God.
Other lost people are in false religions like Catholicism, JW's, Mormonism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddah-ism and many others. Each have their god or god's that is not the God of the Bible. When a person rejects the Lord Jesus, he is very open to false doctrine and false gods. Such a person resists and rejects the truth of God's Word. But he is wide open with little resistance to the many deceptions of the devil. Isn't it interesting how the spiritually blind resist the truth of God's Word yet are wide open to the deceptions of the devil!
What do these lost people worship if it is not the God of the Bible? The answer is very simple. They literally worship Satan and his devils. Satan appears to them as an angel of light and they worship that. This can take many forms. Examples would be idols of wood, idols of stone (statue), charismatic false teachers or guru's, false religious leaders who preach a false gospel excluding the Lord Jesus Christ. Look at the following verses:
Rev 9
20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by
these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands,
that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold,
and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which
neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
1 Tim 4
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing
spirits, and doctrines of devils;
The above verses are very interesting! Those who reject the truth of the Word of God WILL accept doctrines of devils! This is why a person can enjoy the occult world of Harry Potter and not be concerned that he is committing an abomination to the Lord. The real reason such a person does not care about the Word of God is that person is not saved in the first place! He worships a false god who is nothing more than Satan and his demons!
Lost people tend to seek out and find a false god to worship that will not condemn their lifestyle. If their lifestyle includes porn, sexual immorality, drinking, rock music, or the occult, a lost person will seek out a false god that will approve of such things. Once that is done if anyone challenges them, the current lie from Satan is used. This lie states that it is wrong to judge. Judge-not they say as they hurl insults at anyone who dares to insult their evil lifestyles, false teachings, and idols! The Bible is mis-quoted in order to justify the sin and rebellion of these false Christian tares! The only people who are deceived are those who have rejected the Word of God and the Lord Jesus. This people commit themselves to the false teachings and joys of the devil. They are blinded as they head down the broad road to hell and damnation.
1 Cor 2
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit
of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he
know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
2 Cor 4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of
them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious
gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine
unto them.
CONCLUSION
Time is quickly running out for the lost and perishing. The Lord Jesus is returning soon and the lost are running out of time before they are cast into an eternity in hell.
The time is now! People must make their choice and make it soon. Will the unsaved reject the Lord Jesus and the free gift of salvation and eternal life? If so, such a person is telling God that he does not want salvation and that he will pay the penalty himself for all his sins. God will honor that choice! Of course the price is to perish in hell for all eternity with no hope of ever leaving.
John 3
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and
he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the
wrath of God abideth on him.
