In these last days many Christians are confused. One major area of confusion has to do with the eternal security of the believer. Many seem to thing that they are saved by faith and kept by their own good works. If they do not maintain their salvation, it is lost. This is error and confusion.
In this article we will look at one simple fact. Anyone who is born again is a new creation in Christ. They are literally born-again. This is not something that can be lost! Here are some verses that talk about the new creation.
2 Cor 5
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
1 Pet 1
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and
abideth for ever.
Col 3
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in
knowledge after the image of him that created him:
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision
nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free:
but Christ is all, and in all.
The new birth is eternal. Once a person is born of God they are also kept of God. Just as it is impossible to undo the first birth into planet earth, it is also impossible to undo the second birth which is spiritual.
So don't be deceived by those who seek to cause fear and confusion by threatening a person can lose their eternal life. This cannot happen as it is impossible to undo the second birth!
