Job 31
1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

We live in a world that has openly accepted all forms of sexual immorality and sexual perversion as normal behavior. Christians are not OF the world yet still must live IN the world. We must do our day-to-day activities which would include school, work, shopping, and many other things.

TV, movies, newspapers, magazines and many other places are filled with all kinds of advertising and immoral images. No one is immune to viewing lewd images. They are even pasted on the sides of buses, in shopping malls, or on magazine fronts while waiting in a line. The world has gone crazy with sexual sin. The latest addition is to encourage the sin of sodomy (homosexuality).

This article is an encouragement to place a guard on your eyes. I would say that this is something we all have to do as pornographic images are showing up throughout society and it is out of control.

We may not be able to control the images on the sides of a bus, in a store, or in a mall. However, there are some things we can do to avoid seeing and being influenced by immoral images.

- Avoid pornographic images in movies and TV
- Avoid porn on the internet. When you browse the internet be sure to either use a browser that blocks pop-up ads or download and run pop-up blocking software. Use a good email filter to remove spam sent to your mailbox.
- Do not buy magazines with porn (Playboy etc).

As the verse above mentions (Job 31:1). Make a covenant with your eyes and do your best to avoid wrong images. Why do I say do your best? The reason is our godless world has wrong

images everywhere in the printed and viewing media.

Recently I read a survey where many people were polled and it was interesting to note that many people do not feel viewing porn is a sin. Guess what! It is a sin before the Lord. Here is what the Bible says:

Matthew 5
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Even after we do all we can physically do to protect ourselves from pornographic images we still live in society. We still go to shopping malls and we listen to the news etc. This is where a covenant with your eyes comes into play. Force yourself to look away and not to dwell on lewd images that you may see in day-to-day life. This is that covenant made with your eyes! Always remember that soon the Lord will return to rapture home His people. We must endure this evil world for now but the day of our redemption is drawing very near.

FORNICATION

What is the natural result of willingly involving oneself with porn? First a person visualizes the sin in his mind and then he acts it out with his body. The Bible is very clear that fornication is to be avoided at all costs.

1 Cor 6
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Acts 15
29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Hebrews 13
4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

Remember, everything starts with the eyes! So place a guard on your eyes.

CONCLUSION

In these last days we are living in a godless world that has become obsessed with immorality. Fornication, adultery, and perversion is acceptable to many. Governments pass laws to favor and protect immoral actions.

As a result people are bombarded with immoral images on TV, movies, advertising, news, and store bought products.

It is important to place a guard on your eyes. Always remember that temptation to sin starts with the eyes and then turns into actions. By placing a guard on your eyes the temptation stage of immoral sin is avoided.

1 Cor 6
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

2 Tim 2
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
