What the Bible says about HELL

Hell is a terrible place. It is so terrible that I don't think
words can accurately describe the eternal horrors faced by the lost.
Hell is such a terrible place that in order to provide salvation God
became a man, died on the cross, rose from the dead in payment for
our sins. God paid the ultimate price in order to provide salvation
from an eternity in hell. He now leaves men and women with an
eternal decision to make. The entire issue is with sin. God is a
Holy God and sins MUST be paid for. Either a person accepts the
Lord Jesus and allows Him to pay for his sins ... OR ... a person
may freely reject the Lord Jesus and salvation and choose to pay for
his sins himself. The penalty for sins is death, eternal death and
separations from God. The Lord Jesus already paid that penalty but
if a person wants to reject Him then the penalty still must be paid.
Either the Lord Jesus is your Saviour or you choose to pay for your
sins yourself. It really is as simple as that.
This tract will give a description of what the Bible says about
Hell, the lake of fire. Hell is the eternal destination of the lost.
It is a place of eternal torments, darkness, weeping, pain, and
gnashing of teeth. Hell is not a funny or a light subject. It is
deadly serious. Consider that as you read below the Biblical
description of what hell will be like:
Hell is a Burning Lakd of Fire
"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was
cast into the lake of fire." (Rev 20:15)
"Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off,
and cast [them] from thee: it is better for thee to enter into
life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to
be cast into everlasting fire.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast [it]
from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye,
rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire."
(Matthew 18:8,9)
Hell is like a Bottomless Pit
The below verse does not directly apply to the lake of fire. However,
Hell will be at least this bad and even worse!
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of
the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand." (Rev 21:1)
Hell is a Horrible Tempist - A Place for the Wicked
"Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and
an horrible tempest: [this shall be] the portion of their cup."
(Psalms 11:6)
Hell is a Devouring Fire
"The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised
the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire?
who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?" (Isaiah 33:14)
Hell is a Place of Damnation
"[Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape
the damnation of hell?" (Matthew 23:33)
Hell is a Place of Sorrows and Despair
"The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death
prevented me." (Psalms 18:5)
Hell is a Place of Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth
"But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer
darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
(Matthew 8:12)
"And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be
wailing and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 13:42)
"Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot,
and take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there
shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 22:13)
"And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness:
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 25:30)
"And shall cut him asunder, and appoint [him] his portion
with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of
teeth." (Matthew 24:51)
Hell is a Place of Eternal Torments
"And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and
seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom." (Luke 16:23)
"And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and
ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast
and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."
(Revelation 14:11)
"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of
fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are],
and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."
(Revelation 20:10)
Hell is a Furnace of Fire
"And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be
wailing and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 13:42)
"If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and
is withered; and men gather them, and cast [them] into the fire,
and they are burned." (John 15:6)
Hell is a Place of Destruction
"Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the
presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"
(2 Thessalonians 1:9)
Hell is a Place Where They will Curse God
"And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and
their sores, and repented not of their deeds." (Revelation 16:11)
Hell is a Place of Outer Darkness
"But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer
darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
(Matthew 8:12)
Hell is a Place Where People Pray so Their Relatives Will not Come
There but it does no Good
"Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou
wouldest send him to my father's house:
For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them,
lest they also come into this place of torment." (Luke 16:27,28)
Hell is a Place Where They Cry for Mercy - or a Drop of Water to
Ease the Pain of the Fire
"And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and
send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and
cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame." (Luke 16:24)
Hell is a Place of Everlasting Punishment
"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the
righteous into life eternal." (Matthew 25:46)
Hell is a Place of Everlasting Fire
"Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off,
and cast [them] from thee: it is better for thee to enter into
life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to
be cast into everlasting fire." (Matthew 18:8)
"And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for
thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into
hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:" (Mark 9:43)
Hell is a Place of Eternal Separation from God
"Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the
presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"
(2 Thessalonians 1:9)
Hell is a Place of Unquenchable Eternal Fire
"Whose fan [is] in his hand, and he will throughly purge his
floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up
the chaff with unquenchable fire." (Matthew 3:12)
Hell is a Place of Eternal Damnation
"But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath
never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:"
(Mark 3:29)
Hell is a Place Where they Gnaw their Tongues for Pain
"And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the
beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed
their tongues for pain," (Revelation 16:10)
Hell is a Place for those who Perish
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not PERISH, but have
everlasting life." (John 3:16)
Hell is a Place of Blackness and Darkness Forever
"Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame;
wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness
for ever." (Jude 1:13)
Hell is a Place Prepared for the Devil and his Angels --- But Men
Still go There by Choice!
"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart
from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil
and his angels:" (Matthew 25:41)
Hell is a Place of Torment in Fire
"And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and
send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and

Hell is a Place Where they will be Tormented with Brimstone and Fire
"The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which
is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation;
and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence
of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:"
(Revelation 14:10)
Hell is a Place where there are Dogd, Sorcerers, and Whoremongers
(The Immoral)
"For without [are] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and
murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."
(Revelation 22:15)
Hell is a Place where they will Drink the Wine of God's Wrath
"The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which
is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation;
and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence
of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:"
(Revelation 14:10)
Hell is a place where their Worm Dieth not, and the Fire is not Quenched
"Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." (Mark 9:48)
Hell is a place for the Wicked who will be Judged
"Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me
therefore, ye bloody men." (Psalms 139:19)
"The wicked shall see [it], and be grieved; he shall gnash
with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall
perish." (Psalms 112:10)
"When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers
of iniquity do flourish; [it is] that they shall be destroyed for
ever:" (Psalms 92:7)
"But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of
destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half
their days; but I will trust in thee." (Psalms 55:23)
"For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as
the green herb." (Psalms 37:2)
"For yet a little while, and the wicked [shall] not [be]:
yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it [shall] not
[be]." (Psalms 37:10)
"And I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked
for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud
to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible."
(Isaiah 13:11)
Hell is a place for those who have Rejected the Lord Jesus and
His Word done on the Cross
"Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be
thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and
hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was
sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the
Spirit of grace?" (Hebrews 10:29)
"How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which
at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed
unto us by them that heard [him];" (Hebrews 2:3)
Hell is the Second Death - 1st Death is Physical - 2nd Death is
Spiritual Separation from God in Hell Forever
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and
murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and
all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with
fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8)
Hell is the Destination of those who Love and do Sin (Workers of Iniquity)
"When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut
to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the
door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and
say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy
presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are;
depart from me, all [ye] workers of iniquity." (Luke 13:25-27)
Hell is a Place to Fear Going to
"But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which
after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say
unto you, Fear him." (Luke 12:5)
CONCLUSION
Well that is quite a description of hell isn't it. Hell
certainly is a place to be avoided at all costs. Let me give you an
example.......
A person comes down with a terrible disease...cancer. That person
is dying and doesn't have a long time to live. He becomes very
depressed and has no hope. Then unexpectantly due to a scientific
breakthrough a cure is found for his sickness. All this person
needs to do is to take some medicine and he will be cured from that
disease. However he doesn't want that medicine...he is angry that
he got the disease in the first place.
Is the person above being intelligent? Is he dumb for rejecting
the medicine that will cure him? I think most people would say a
definite YES!
However that person is YOU if right now you do not have the Lord
Jesus as your Saviour. You see everyone has a terminal disease.
That disease is called SIN. If left unchecked that disease will
result in the second death which is separation from God and an
eternity in hell. There is a cure however. You see the Lord Jesus
(who is God in human flesh) became man and died on the cross and
purchased a place in heaven for all who will reach out in repentance
and faith to receive that gift of salvation. You see the cure for
sin is the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.
You have a decision to make. Are you going to be like that
cancer patient who rejected the cure? Are you going to reject the
Lord Jesus and His shed blood which will wash away your sin?
That is a big decision and an eternal one. Everyone will spend
their eternity in either heaven or hell. Which will it be for
you?????????
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none
other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved." (Acts 4:12)
The Lord Jesus is the ONLY way to be saved, there is no other way.
When a person dies they are either SAVED or LOST!
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he
that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of
God abideth on him." (John 3:36)
SO.... What is your decision????
Will you spend your eternity with God in heaven... or will you
decide to pay for your sins yourself and persh in hell for all eternity?
Make the decision today because tomorrow may be too late!!!!!
Look up and rejoice because the Lord Jesus is coming back soon!
