Israel became a nation again in 1948 after the people were scattered to the four corners of the earth for almost 2000 years. This was a significant event in Bible prophecy. It was so significant that all the end time prophecies could not be fulfilled unless Israel was a nation again.
Their return is in two stages. First Israel will be restored and blessed but the people will be in a state of unbelief. These are the conditions today. Later, after the 70th week of Daniel's prophecy, there will be a spiritual restoration of Israel. At time the people of Israel will accept their Messiah, the Lord Jesus. Have a look at Ezekiel chapters 36 and 37 for more details.
Here is the major sign of the end of the age. When Israel returns they will be built up and restored as a nation. In those days the Lord Jesus will return. Here is what the Bible says:
Psalms 102
16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.
After Israel was cast out of their land for sin, the land of Israel became a desert wasteland. The land stayed in this condition until 1948. When the Jews returned to Israel, the land once again began to bloom like a rose. Cities were built and Israel formed a great nation with an excellent army. All this was a direct fulfillment of Psalms 102 verse 16. In fact, Israel continues to expand, prosper, and grow as a nation.
There is no nation in existence that can destroy the nation of Israel. So far many Arab nations have tried. They have out numbered the Jewish people by hundreds to one and still suffered major defeat in battle. Literally, the Lord is building up Zion and protecting Israel.
All this is a major sign of the soon coming of the Lord Jesus. The Bible says "When the Lord shall build up Zion..." - when that occurs, we are living in the days of the return of the Lord! Well, we are living in those days today! Israel continues to grow in numbers and strength. The continue to be blessed as the Lord is building them up as a nation. In these days, the Lord will return!
Of course the Bible also gives an overview of Bible prophecy related to the return of the Lord Jesus. We know that before the Lord Jesus returns physically to Jerusalem, the nation of Israel must go through the 70th week of Daniel's prophecy. This time period is also known as the 7 year kingdom of the antichrist or the time of Jacob's trouble, or the tribulation period. At the end of Daniel's 70th week there will be a spiritual rebirth of Israel as they accept the Lord Jesus as their Messiah. Until that time the nation of Israel will largely be in the land in a state of unbelief. Certainly these are the conditions today!

Psalms 102

We know the Lord will return in the days that He build up Zion or Jerusalem/Israel. We also know that He has been doing that since 1948 and today Israel is a great nation with an excellent world-class army. All this is a major sign to all that the Lord Jesus is returning very soon!
We also know that the nation of Israel must go through a 7 year time period which is the 70th week of Daniels prophecy. During this time the devil will be setting up his kingdom of the antichrist. The kingdom of the antichrist has been under heavy preparation and the lost people of the world have been trained to accept all the evils of that kingdom. People have accepted all the evils of rock music, sexual immorality, sexual perversion, the occult has become very popular, and drug and alcohol use is commonplace. Along with all this the computer based technology to implement the mark of the beast exists and is ready to be put into full use.
All this points to the nearness of the rapture when the Lord Jesus will remove His people from earth before the devil can setup his kingdom of the antichrist. Although we cannot set a date for the rapture, we can certainly see that the day is quickly approaching and is not too far in the future. The exact day is under the control and timing of the Lord. But Christians can be encouraged by the fact that the Lord Jesus is coming back very soon! We are in the very last of the last days before the return of the Lord. Any day the Lord could rapture home His people to be with Him in heaven.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we
which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall
not prevent them which are asleep.

with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and

together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the
