ISRAEL AND THE EVERLASTING COVENANT

By Alan Yusko

In these last days Israel is under great attack. Many make foolish claims that Israel has no right to their land and do not deserve to be a nation! Others are against Zionism which is nothing more than Israel returning to the land given them by God for an everlasting possession.

All those who make the foolish claim that Israel has no right to their homeland are denying the Bible! God made an eternal and everlasting covenant with Abraham which can never be broken. Historically, due to sin and rebellion the nation of Israel was temporarily removed from their land. This happened twice.
1) the Babylonian captivity
2) in 70 A.D. when the Jews were defeated by the Romans and scattered to the four corners of the earth.

The land of Israel has been desolate since 70 A.D. However, in 1948 they became a nation again which fulfilled prophecy in Ezekiel chapters 36 and 37. God restored Israel as a nation and they are returning to reclaim their land given to them by God for an everlasting inheritance.

Like it or not but this is Bible prophecy concerning Israel and it is being fulfilled and no one can stop it. Israel is a nation again and they cannot be destroyed as God will not allow it! All peoples and nations who attack Israel will be cursed and destroyed as God judges them. These are very true and serious facts about Israel.

So Israel is going back into the land that God gave them. Let me make a quick point. The land does not belong to the Jew in Israel. The land belongs to God and He has given that land to the Jews as their inheritance forever! This is an unbreakable promise that God gave to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac, and Jacob.

Israel right now is returning to their God given land in a state of unbelief. Right now they do not believe in the God of the Bible and their Messiah, the Lord Jesus. This will change in the days ahead. But first the nation of Israel must go through the 70th week of Daniel's prophecy. At the end of that period, Israel will repent and receive the Lord Jesus as their Messiah! They will come alive spiritually at that time. The restoration of Israel is a two step process. The first step is the physical regathering of the nation. This is being fulfilled in our day since 1948. The second step is the spiritual restoration of Israel. This will occur at the end of the 70th week of Daniel's prophecy.

The spiritual restoration of Israel is coming in the future and God will fulfill all the prophecies concerning Israel and their coming blessings and greatness.

In this article we will address one fact and prove it from the Bible. Here it is: The land belongs to God and He has given it to Israel. The Jews live in the land and have the right to be there because God gave it to them.

We will look at the everlasting covenant God made with Abraham and was confirmed to Isaac and Jacob who became Israel. This covenant included a land blessing and can never be broken! This eternal covenant does not have anything to do with the past, present, or future sins of the Jews. Instead, it is dependant upon the faithfulness of God Himself. The covenant cannot be broken because God Himself will fulfill it!

People who deny Israel's right to exist on God's land are willingly ignorant about the Bible, God's everlasting covenant, and God's faithfulness. Israel exists as a nation today and yet still many people are Biblically ignorant to the great and eternal promises of God to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Let's begin by looking at the many promises God made to Abraham and his children. We start in Genesis chapter 12 where God calls Abram (not yet named Abraham) and gives him a promise. See below:

Gen 12
1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed

God promised Abraham that he would be shown a land and that he would become a great nation. God promised to greatly bless Abraham!

Abraham obeyed God and went forth. Later we see God again talking to Abraham and expanding on the blessings he would receive:

Gen 13
14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

As you can see the promised blessings God gave to Abraham also included a promise of land. Verse 15 says that this promised land would be given to the seed (children of Abraham) forever. God promised Abraham that he would have many descendants. The point I wish to make is part of the promised blessing of Abraham is land. God will give Abraham and his descendants land.

Lets keep reading. Below we can see the actual unbreakable covenant that God made with Abraham. Read below for the actual covenant:

Gen 15
1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
2 And Abram said, LORD God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
8 And he said, LORD God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?
9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.
12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not their's, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Two things to notice from the verses above:
1) God made the promise to Abraham and his seed (descendants)
2) God promised Abraham and his descendants a land for their inheritance

Also notice that after Abraham prepared the sacrifice to the Lord a deep sleep came upon him. At that time God completed the covenant without Abraham's assistance. This is very significant. You see it is dependant upon God to keep this covenant and not Abraham or his seed. This means that Abraham or his descendants cannot sin and fail God thus nullifying the covenant. They have no part in fulfilling the Covenant. God will do it Himself and God keeps His promises! What actually happened historically was that Israel was disciplined many times by God for sin. They were even cast out of the promised land due to their sin and rebellion against God. This didn't break the covenant. It was discipline for sin. This is why today the Jew is coming home to their promised land given to them by God. Nothing can stop them or destroy them because God keeps the covenant He made with Abraham!

Let's continue on. Abraham continued to grow old and at age 99, God again appeared to him.

Gen 17
1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

At this point God changed Abram's name to Abraham because he would become the father of many nations. Again notice verse 8 where God again repeats the promise of land to Abraham and his descendants. No other people in the history of the world has ever been promised land by God. Another thing to notice in verse 8. This land was given to them for an everlasting possession.

Now it is time for Abraham to have a son with Sarah, his wife. See below and notice the everlasting covenant:

Gen 17
19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

God promises that Abraham and Sarah would have a son and that this same covenant, which includes the land promise, would apply to him and his children. The covenant that God made with Abraham is an everlasting covenant with Abraham and his descendants. Think about what the word "everlasting" means!

Continue reading:

Gen 26
1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Abraham and Sarah's son was named Isaac. In these verses God confirmed the everlasting covenant to Isaac. This is the same covenant God made with Abraham!

In verse 3 God said he sware an oath to Abraham that He would keep His promise and keep the covenant. Is God a truthful God and does He keep His promises? Of course He does!

Also notice there are promises to Isaac and his descendants which includes a promise of land. Above is the same covenant God made with Abraham! God is again restating it to Isaac and saying He will fulfill it!

Time passed and Isaac and his wife had two children. The child of the promise was Jacob. Here God again confirms the same covenant with Jacob:

Gen 28
10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

In verse 13 God again mentions the promise of land for Jacob and his children and descendants. Have you noticed that God has repeated the promise of land to Abraham and his descendants again and again? In light of the faithfulness of God, is it any wonder that Israel exists today as a nation? God owns the land and He promised it to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Today we can see God keeping His promise and eternal covenant!

Jacob had 12 children and one of them was named Joseph. Here Jacob tells Joseph about the covenant given to Abraham:

Gen 48
3 And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
4 And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.

Again the promise of land is mentioned and the land is an everlasting possession to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Israel has a right to exist and to be in the land. God gave them that land as an everlasting possession!

The existence of Israel is proof that God keeps His everlasting covenant! Israel has rights to the promised land. No other nation has the right to say otherwise. Today Israel is in the land that God gave them. In the days ahead their borders will expand and more Jews will return to Israel from other countries.

THE GIVEN LAND IN DEUTERONOMY

Next, we will look at several verses that say that the land has been given to Israel by God and this land is their everlasting inheritance:

See the following verses:

Deut 1
20 And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.

Deut 1
25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.

Deut 2
29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.

Do you notice the trend? The people of Israel understood that God GAVE them the land to live in! Let's continue:

Deut 3
20 Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.

Deut 4
1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.

Deut 5
16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Deut 9
6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

Deut 11
31 For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.

Deut 12
1 These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

Deut 12
10 But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

Deut 15
4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:

Deut 15
7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

Deut 18
9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

Deut 27
3 And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.

The Bible is very clear. God owns the land and He has promised that land to the nation of Israel. This is why in 1948 the tiny nation of Israel came into existence after over 1900 years! Their existence is living proof of the faithfulness of the promises of God!

INHERITANCE OF THE LAND FROM THE LORD

Israel has an eternal and unbreakable covenant between God and Israel! The land promise is the inheritance given to the children of Israel from God forever! Here are some verses that talk about their land inheritance.

Deut 24
4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

Deut 25
19 Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

Deut 26
1 And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein;

1 Chron 16
15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
16 Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
17 And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;

1 Chron 28
8 Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.

2 Chron 6
27 Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.

Ezra 9
12 Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.

Psalm 105
11 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:

Jer 3
18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.

Jer 12
14 Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.

Ezek 33
24 Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.

Ezek 47
14 And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance.

Ezek 48
29 This is the land which ye shall divide by lot unto the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these are their portions, saith the Lord GOD.

As you can see the land of Israel has been given to Abraham and his descendants for an inheritance forever. There are many more verses in the Bible that describe the land inheritance for the children of Israel. I would say the Bible is very clear on that fact!

GOD DWELLS IN ZION!

Have you ever wondered how the tiny nation of Israel and Jerusalem could be so hated by the world? This tiny nation of Israel has been constantly in the news since becoming a nation in 1948. I have seen many news articles that condemn the nation of Israel. It seems that Israel is always in the wrong while their enemies are always presented as the good guy or the innocent victim. The root of all this hatred against Israel is from Satan and his servants.

Even though the world and the devil hate Israel, God has big plans for that nation. The day is coming when He will dwell in Israel!

Here are some verses that describe the fact that God plans to dwell in Zion.

Joel 3
19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

Psalm 132
13 For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. 14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

Psalm 102
16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.

Notice the above verse. Right now Zion (Israel) is being built up. Israel became a nation again in 1948. Since that time this tiny nation has grown and prospered.

This is another prophecy that says the return of the Lord Jesus is near. The day when Israel becomes a nation again and the country grows and prospers marks the nearness of the return of the Lord Jesus. Keep your eyes up as the Lord Jesus is coming back soon!

RETURN OF THE JEW BACK TO THE HOLY LAND

The Jews coming home from the four corners of earth. This is happening TODAY and is the result of the everlasting covenant from God! God is bringing Jews home to Israel from every nation. This is a major fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Sadly, many people today are blinded to Bible prophecy even when it occurs right before their eyes! Here is the verse that describes the return of the Jew today:

Isaiah 11
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Notice in the above verses that the children of Israel will be brought back to the land of Israel from:

- Various nations (Isa 11:11)
- Islands of the sea
- Four corners of the earth

(This didn't happen in the Babylon dispersion as they came back from one country, Babylon!). But now since 1948 God has been bringing back the Jew from all over the world! We have a direct fulfillment of the Word of God going on in the world!

Hosea 3
4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and [without] teraphim:
5 Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

The prophecy of Hosea is interesting. It describes Israel for the last 2000 years. They have been desolate with no Temple, no sacrifice for sin, and no king. We are living in the days of verse 5 (afterward) when God is bringing them home to Israel. When will it occur....in the latter days (we are now in the latter days). They will also accept their Messiah at the end of the 70th week or the time of Jacob's trouble (the Tribulation period) when the Lord Jesus returns to earth.

Where shall the children of Israel come from when they are restored to their inherited land? From one nation (Babylon) as in the first captivity of Israel? No, they will literally come from the four corners of the world!

Isaiah 43
5 Fear not: for I [am] with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

The Jew will come from all over the earth! From the north, the south, the east, and the west is where God will bring the returning Jew back to Israel. This is happening right now as God is calling the Jew back home. As a result the land of Israel is responding to the returning Jew. See below:

Amos 9
14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.

WHO OWNS THE HOLY LAND?

Who really owns the land which Israel currently occupies. Does the title deed go to Israel & the Jews? Or does the title deed go to the Arabs? This is the question constantly in the news. The Bible is very clear as to who owns the Holy Land. The owner is God Himself. The title deed of the land belongs to the God of heaven and earth. Since God is the owner of the land, He gives it to whomever He wills. He has given that land to the children of Israel to live. Through sin and disobedience they were previously scattered from the land. However the dispersion was only temporary and they were allowed back on God's Holy Land. The last dispersion lasted 1900 years but the Jews are coming back to God's Holy land to live. Hence the birth of the nation of Israel in 1948.

That's quite a claim, isn't it. God owns the Holy Land! Let me show you the proof from Scriptures. While reading the below list of Scriptures look for the phrase "MY LAND" and see who is talking. It can be easily recognized that it is God talking and He is referring to the Holy Land as MY LAND:

2 Chronicles 7
19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;
20 Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of MY LAND which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it [to be] a proverb and a byword among all nations.

Isaiah 14
25 That I will break the Assyrian in MY LAND, and upon MY MOUNTAINS tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

Jeremiah 2
7 And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled MY LAND, and made mine heritage an abomination.

Jeremiah 16
18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled MY LAND, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.

Ezekiel 36
5 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed MY LAND into their possession with the joy of all [their] heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.

Joel 1
6 For a nation is come up upon MY LAND, strong, and without number, whose teeth [are] the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.

The above verses are pretty clear. God is speaking and the Holy Land is HIS land. Even though Israel lives on God's Holy land, the land still belongs to God.

JUDGMENT FOR DIVIDING GOD'S LAND

God is upset with any nation that attacks His land and the Jews who have it as their inheritance. Over that last several years we have witnessed nations divide up the Holy land. Israel has been pressured into land for so-called peace. The land of Israel has been cut up and separated and given to the Arabs. I expect this type of trend to continue into the kingdom of the antichrist. Ultimately, God will react to the dividing up of His land in Divine judgment! Below is the stern warning in the book of Joel against any who would dare to divide and part God's land of Israel:

Joel 3
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and [for] my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and PARTED MY LAND.

Notice the end of the verse. The term 'parted my land' deals with dividing up the Holy Land. Remember, the land belongs to God Himself. The Lord considers parting His land a great sin. He will bring the nations into judgment who have dared to do this sin in Israel.

Israel is again a nation which is a major fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Yet there are those today who are so blind that they think Israel has been forsaken by God. The name of this belief is "replacement theology". This false doctrine goes something like this: Israel sinned and lost the promises of God. Those promises now belong to the church.

I submit to you that replacement theology is foolish false doctrine and anyone who believes in it is Biblically ignorant. God has made eternal and unbreakable promises to Abraham and his physical descendants, the Jew. Israel exists as a nation today as a result of those promises and the faithfulness of God! Below are some very clear verses that clearly state that Israel has not been forsaken by God!

Rom 11
1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,
...
11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
...
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
...
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

As you can see, Israel will never be forsaken by the Lord. Their current existence in the land is proof of that fact. The day is coming when Israel will be fully restored to their place of blessing both physically as a nation and spiritually.

CONCLUSION

In this article we have looked at the eternal and everlasting covenant God made with Abraham and his descendants. We have seen that God owns the Holy land and has given it to the nation of Israel for their possession and inheritance.

Even though Israel sinned, was disciplined, and even removed from the Holy Land, the everlasting covenant was not broken. It is God Himself who keeps the covenant made with Abraham and his descendants. This is why in 1948 as a direct fulfillment of Ezekiel 36 and 37, Israel became a nation again! God showed His faithfulness and fulfilled Bible prophecy when Israel became a nation in 1948. Sadly, many are blind to that fact.

The good news is that the Lord Jesus is coming back soon. Israel is back in the land and Bible prophecy is being fulfilled. Soon the Lord Jesus will return to rapture home His blood bought Church. After the rapture, Israel becomes the center of Bible prophecy. They still have to go through the 70th week of Daniel's prophecy which will end with their spiritual restoration as they accept their Messiah, the Lord Jesus.

Isn't it a great blessing to see Bible prophecy being fulfilled right before our eyes? Truly we are the generation of people that can rejoice in the return of our Lord as this verse states:

Luke 21
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
