PERISH IN YOUR SINS

by Alan Yusko

Did you know that it is possible for a person to live their entire life and die in their sins? Today God, the Bible, and the Lord Jesus are being rejected. People are proud and mock at the Biblical fact that they are perishing and lost in their sins. As a result people go through their lives in rejection of God and salvation found in the Lord Jesus.

The Lord Jesus gave many warnings to lost sinners. He gave a warning to all lost sinners that it is possible for a person to die in their sins! Obviously this is a danger or the Lord Jesus would not have given such a warning. Below is what the Lord Jesus said in the Scriptures:

John 8
24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.

The Lord Jesus states very clearly that it is possible to DIE IN YOUR SINS. This is a very serious warning and not something to be taken lightly. Therefore this question must be asked:

WHAT IS DYING IN YOUR SINS?

What does it mean for a person to die in their sins? Since it is possible for a person to live their life and still die in their sins we need to know what exactly that means. Here are the conditions in a lost person's life when they have died in their sins:

1) They die with their sins unforgiven

2) Sin must be paid for. A person who dies in their sins has chosen to pay the penalty for their sins, themselves. The other alternative would be to let the Lord Jesus pay for their sins. However a lost person has rejected the Lord Jesus as their Saviour.

3) A person who has died in their sins has rejected God's salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life found in the Lord Jesus. This is why their sins are unforgiven and they must pay the penalty for their own sins.

Here is the next question: What is the penalty for dying in your sins?

The Bible clearly states that there is a penalty for sin. See the below verse.

John 6
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Sin pays a wage and that wage is death. Since we are all sinners we have all earned the wages of sin (death). This is why everyone needs the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. God became a man and died on the cross to pay the death penalty for sin. Salvation in the Lord Jesus is offered to all who will receive it. The above verse states that "...the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". Those people who reject the Lord Jesus still have the death peanlty of sin. If they die in rejection of the Lord Jesus then they die in their sins.

The death penalty for sin must be paid for all who die in their sins. Death comes in two forms. They are:

1)Physical death
2)Eternal death in hell (spiritual death)

Everyone is subject to physical death as a result of sin in God's creation. However, eternal death is for those who have rejected God's salvation in the Lord Jesus. These people have died in their sins and must pay the death penalty for sin. That penalty is an eternity burning in hell, the lake of fire.

SIN IS BEING DENIED IN THESE APOSTATE DAYS

Today we live in days of great apostasy as many have rejected the foundations of the Christian faith. Many doctrines of the Bible are being denied by religious people who claim they are Christians. The Bible describes these people as wolves in sheep's clothing, deceivers, and false teachers. Many of these deceivers look good and sound very "Christian". However, they are an accursed lot as they introduce heresies that deny the Bible.

One area of attack by these wolves is in the are of sin. The reality and consequences of sin is denied. The concept that a person is a lost hellbound sinner is rejected. Sin and hell is considered to be a big negative. The goal is to create a non-offensive false gospel that is acceptable to everyone. By removing sin and hell it is hoped that people will be attracted by the positive ideas presented. The Biblical concept of sin has been redefined. Sin has been given a whole new meaning that includes the following:

- Sin means low self esteem or self-worth.
- Sin is just some mistakes made in life
- Sin has no eternal consequences (perishing in hell). The penalty for sin, which is hell, is denied.

As you can see sin no longer has the death penalty of an eternity in hell. In fact, hell is not even mentioned as it too is considered too negative of a concept and will scare and offend people.

If the reality of sin and the consequences of sin is denied then there is really no need to repent and accept the Lord Jesus as Saviour. As a result lost people die in their sins and perish destined for an eternity of torment burning in the lake of fire.

LIARS ABOUND!

Those who deny the reality and penalty of sin according to the Bible are liars! They are wolves and false teachers and should be avoided. Here is a verse that talks about such a liar who denies the reality of sin:

1 John 1
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

CONCLUSION

Be warned! Sin, eternal death, and hell are very real. There are liars out there who deny the sinfulness of man and the penalty for sin (hell). These people are deceivers and false teachers who are lost themselves and are a pathway to hell for others.

In this world there are only two types of people.

1) Saved

2) Lost

For those who are lost if they die in rejection of the Lord Jesus then such a person will die in their sins. They will perish and spend their eternity in torment in the lake of fire paying for their own sins.

John 3
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

The good news is that God does not want people to perish in hell. Today the Lord Jesus offers the free gift of salvation to all who will come to Him and receive it. But how many will come to the Lord Jesus for salvation? Will you?... or will you die in your sins?

John 3
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
