RESURRECTION OF LIFE OR DEATH

By Alan Yusko

Acts 24
14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

Right now as you read this, you are either saved or lost. There is no middle ground! You will spend eternity in either heaven or in hell. There will be a resurrection for each. For heaven God will give a body to enjoy all the blessings of eternity with the Lord in His Kingdom. For the lost hellbound Christ-rejecting sinner, God will resurrect and give a body suited for hell. This body will not dissolve in the flames and tortures of the lake of fire.

For those who have accepted the Lord Jesus as their Saviour are already saved. These people are called Christians and they will be spending their eternity in the glories of heaven with the Lord. Below are some verses that describe salvation.

John 3
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

In verses 14-17 we see how simple it is to be saved. Just by believing in the Lord Jesus a person can be forgiven and not perish in hell. Of course believing also involves trust in the finished work of the Lord Jesus on the Cross. This is God's purpose for lost mankind. God the Son (second person of the Trinity) became a man, died on the cross and purchased a place for us in heaven. Right now the invitation is open to all for salvation.

The sad truth is described in verses 18-21 above. Notice that there are some people that love their sin and love darkness than want to be saved. Many times I have heard the argument that some say they do not want to go to heaven because there is no drugs, rock and roll, and fornication in heaven. To such a person, giving up the evil they love so dearly is not an option. These people love the darkness and reject the light. Verse 19 above mentions that men will love darkness more than the light. Does this describe you reader?

Notice verse 20 above. People who openly reject the light and openly reject God also begin the hate the light. Christ rejecting lost people simply do not like Christians. One day when God takes home His people in the rapture, there will be many godless God rejectors glad to see us go. They may wonder where the Christians went but they certainly will not miss us. At that time they will get their wish. The devil will raise the antichrist up to control the world and evil will go unchecked. Lost men and women will freely do all the sin and evil they wish. There will no longer be any restraints.

We are rapidly coming to that time in human history. The next big prophetic event is the rapture of the true believers. There is no prophecy that needs to be fulfilled before the rapture occurs. It could, literally, happen today! God is control of the times and all we can do is to simply see the nearness of the coming Day. One day and one day soon the Lord will come back.

Right now is the time of salvation. It is God's will that none will perish and go to hell. God does not want lost men to perish in hell. However, He has given men free will and God will honor our choice. Men have the choice of salvation or rejection of salvation, heaven or hell, life or death. God will honor whatever choice is made.

What choice have you made in these last days before the Lord Jesus returns? Do not delay in accepting the Lord Jesus. Today could very well be your last day here on earth! Once you are dead and in eternity, your choice is sealed. You are either saved or lost and that is.... forever!

John 3
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Next lets look at the resurrection of the lost. If a person dies they will be part of the resurrection of damnation. These people will be given another body and that body will be an eternal one suited for hell, the lake of fire. Below are some verses describing the Great White Throne judgment. This judgment is not for saved people. In face saved people are not judged for sin as the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin. The lost, however, reject God's salvation and therefore must stand up before God in judgment. Below is the description of this event:

Rev 20
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

This judgment will occur after the Lord Jesus returns and reigns on earth for 1000 years. This is a terrible judgment of lost Christ-rejecting people.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

One day lost people will stand before God. Certain books will be opened. I would assume that God will have a record of each and every sin committed by the lost person. That person now stands before God in judgment for those sins.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Every lost man and woman will go through this judgment. The end result will always be the same. Each person will be found guilty. There may be degrees of guilt, but all will be found guilty. Sin must be punished and it just takes one sin to be deserving hell and the lake of fire. This is why everyone needs the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. We are all sinners and we are all in need of a Saviour. Some choose to accept the Lord Jesus and God's free love gift of salvation, while others do not. This is the end of the road for those who loved darkness and hated the light while they lived on earth. When the lost person is standing here, the life of sin will seem so insignificant. Just a few years of sin and a whole eternity of torment separated from God! It just is not worth it!

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Like I mentioned, everyone is a sinner, so everyone will be found guilty. All the guilty will be thrown into the lake of fire. This is known as the second death. Did you know you could die twice? The first death occurs when the physical body dies. The second death is the separation of the lost/unsaved soul from God for all eternity. That lost person will be thrown into the lake of fire forever and ever. Here is a description of that eternal torment:

Rev 14
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Notice that the smoke of their torment will ascend before God for ever and ever. There will be no rest and no peace forever to those who perish in the lake of fire. The really sad thing is there is also no hope. Never, can the person repent and be saved. The time of repentance is now. The time of salvation is now. It is not a light thing to reject God and His free love gift of salvation.

Hebrews 2
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Don't wait as today is the day of salvation!!!

For those who accept the Lord Jesus, be assured that you are saved and will never be lost. See the below:

1 John 5
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

For the other's beware because judgment is coming.

Acts 17
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

John 5
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
