3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound
doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to
themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and
shall be turned unto fables.
It is interesting how people who have given themselves over to liberal doctrines and compromise react in an angry manner to sound Biblical doctrine. To these people: Obedience is legalism and sound doctrine is separating and divisive. Trying to obey and walk with the Lord is a foreign concept (too narrow!). Rejecting the evils of the world is unloving and narrow-minded. Withdrawing from false teachers is nothing more than condemning people who are different. A person who holds fast to sound Biblical doctrine is considered very intolerant to other viewpoints. When warning of the dangers of Satan's rock music or occultic entertainment, the reaction many times is one of rage, anger, and mockery.
When you cannot be converted to their liberalism and rejection of sound doctrine, you are condemned to hell by the liberal doctrine rejector. Liberal compromisers think someone who holds fast to sound doctrine must not be saved because they do not accept their same level of liberalism and doctrinal compromise. This is sad, very sad. One day and very soon we will stand before the Lord Jesus. I hope you, reader, are ready for that time! To those who love the Lord and sound Biblical doctrine, just hold fast! The Lord is coming again soon! The liberal doctrine rejectors will soon have their day of accountability!
We are now living in great days of apostasy. Many people have rejected the foundations of the Christian faith and have no heart or love for sound Biblical doctrine. These people love the pleasures and sins of the world much more than the Lord. But this is no surprise to those who are watching Bible prophecy! Before the rise of the antichrist the Bible warns there will be days of great doctrinal apostasy. Guess what! We are in those days now. God is calling people to make a choice. Some are choosing to obey and walk with the Lord Jesus while others are turning their backs and accepting fairy tales instead of sound Biblical doctrine. Many reject sound doctrine because they love their sins of rock music, occult entertainment, immoral pleasures, false teachings, liberalism, and compromise so much that they turn their back on the Lord. These people claim that they love God but in reality they are liars. Their actions make their words meaningless as this verse shows:
Titus 1
16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him,
being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good
work reprobate.
WHY?
2 Thess 2
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come,
except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be
revealed, the son of perdition;
Why do people react violently and with anger when presented with sound Biblical doctrine? I've seen this reaction time after time and I think I know the reason why. The answer is because people are in love with darkness and react with anger to the truth of God's Word. Let me give some examples.
A person loves occult entertainment and has 'enjoyed' both the Harry Potter series and the Lord of the Rings. When shown that this is darkness and an abomination to the Lord that person reacts in anger. He feels condemned (and rightly so). Rather than repent of this evil that person reacts with anger because he is in love with enjoying the darkness of witchcraft and the occult. A person in love with darkness rejects the light of God's Word.
Another example would be a person's addiction to rock and roll music. This Satanic music has led many people away from God and brought in extreme liberalism in every church where it gains acceptance. Again when exposed as evil, the majority of rockers will not repent. Instead the rockin' darkness lover will react in anger and mockery. He loves his rock and roll darkness from the devil far more than the Lord. Such a person feels condemned by the light of the Word of God and he reacts with anger and mockery instead of repentance.
This list can go on into other areas but I think the point has been made. When a person loves darkness and is confronted with the light of the Word of God, the darkness lover rejects the light. The below verses state that such a person actually hates the light. Read the verses below and pay careful attention to verses 19 and 20:
John 3
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed
in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the
world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their
deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither
cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds
may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Verse 19 and 20 are very clear. People who love darkness hate the light. Notice that the darkness lover is aware of the light. Instead of repenting, the darkness lover is offended by the light and hates it. Many love doing evil deeds and do not wish to change. They love their immorality, their occult sins, and their rock music etc. Rather than give up the darkness they choose to reject and hate the light. These people react with rejection, mockery, and even anger to sound Biblical teaching and doctrine.
Next, lets look again at the verses that describe the doctrine rejecting person of our day before the return of the Lord Jesus:

Notice the darkness lover rejects sound doctrine because they have a "lust" for darkness. They do not want the light of sound Biblical doctrine and they actively turn away their ears from hearing it! Instead, they lust after false teachings and pleasures considered evil before the Lord. Such evil pleasures would include the occult, rock music, sexual immorality etc.
A FALSE GOD OF CHOICE
I have heard it said that a man's morality will dictate his theology. This means that a person will align himself with any false gods that justify an immoral or evil lifestyle. A person first chooses his lifestyle with whatever level of deeds of darkness he desires. Then he picks out a non-condemning deity or false god that will approve of his evil lifestyle. When confronted by the light of the Word of God, the darkness lover reacts negatively. He doesn't want anything to do with the God of the Bible, repentance, holiness, or Biblical separation from evil. This person has his own god and his own belief system that is 'tolerant' of his evil deeds. In this way the darkness lover sets up his own god and justifies his chosen lifestyle. Such a person may even dare to call himself a "Christian" and attend a "Christian" church. This is a tare among the wheat. Below is a really good description of the tare/goat from the book of Jude. Notice that they will be among true Christians:
Jude
11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain,
and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward,
and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they
feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds
they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose
fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by
the roots;
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame;
wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of
darkness for ever.
Jude
16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their
own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words,
having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken
before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the
last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having
not the Spirit.
SEPARATION: WHEAT vs TARES and SHEEP vs GOATS
We are now in the last days before the return of the Lord Jesus! The time is short and many of the end-time Bible prophecies are lining up in the world right now. We know by reading Matthew chapter 25 that when the Lord Jesus returns at the climax of the battle of Armageddon, there will be a sheep and goat judgment. The Lord will separated His people (sheep) from the goats (the devil's people).
There is another separation happening right now before the return of the Lord to rapture home His people. The false Christian tares are being exposed. People are choosing sides and aligning themselves with the tares/goats or the wheat/sheep. The false Christian tare is getting real easy to see as they love the same things that Satan loves. They have no heart for sound Biblical doctrine or obedience to the Word of God. The tares love all the witchcraft in Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, D&D games, computer occult games, occult movies, rock and roll, immorality etc.) Tares/goats react violently to sound Biblical doctrine as they have no heart for it. They are unteachable and have no desire for a close walk with the Lord.
Sadly, I have seen many people who have aligned themselves in the TARE and GOAT camp while calling themselves Christian. Do they listen to sound Biblical doctrine? No. Do they have a teachable heart and respond in obedience to the Word of God? No. Do they respond to Biblical correction? Yes they do (but in the wrong way - and that way is negative!). The tare responds with rejection, rebellion, and mockery. Just talk to a professing Christian who is addicted to Satan's rock music to see what I mean. Are these people saved? Well, if they stay aligned with the tares/goats in their rebellion then that is an indication they never knew the Lord. Verse 19 below shows that the tare will not stay faithful which proves they were never saved in the first place!
1 John 2
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard
that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists;
whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they
had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but
they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were
not all of us.
For many years the tares mingled close with the wheat in the churches. They were hard to tell apart. However, today before the great harvest, the tares are easy to spot. As the tares separate themselves and go deeper into their sins of darkness (see verse 19 above), they prove to all that they were never saved in the first place!
CONCERN?
I hope no one reading this article who loves the Lord Jesus is asking themselves: "Am I a tare or a goat?" I have found that tares really do not care what God thinks. Tares claim to love the Lord but they deny Him in their actions and rebellion. Tares love their sins of darkness and disobedience. Mix that fact with apathy over their spiritual condition and it is a good description of a tare. A Christian may have concerns and worries as they seek to please the Lord and this is a good thing. The devil is quick to attack God's people with the "if" word of doubt. It goes something like this: "If you were a Christian you..." or "You are probably not saved anyway..." or "God doesn't love you...". Satan does not attack his tares this way. Instead, this form of torment is placed upon believers and the best time is during a trial or a hard time in life. The only protection is to stand fast on the promises of the Word of God, the Bible. If doubts are in your mind then try reading the book of John and looking for each promise associated with the word "believe". There are many promises in the Word of God given to the Lord's blood bought people. On this earth we must walk a walk of faith trusting in the promises of God found in His Word, the Bible. All this is part of maturing in Christ.
But always be aware that Satan has his tares planted among the wheat. The tares/goats are getting very easy to see in these harvest days as they grow closer to their father, the devil. This is no surprise as we have been warned in verses like the below:
2 Cor 11
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel
of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be
transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall
be according to their works.
CONCLUSION
God is calling people to make choices in these last days! The tares are growing closer to the devil while God's people are drawing closer to the Lord Jesus as they expect His soon return. Here is a verse that warns of great days of apostasy before the antichrist rises to power. Those days are the days in which we currently live:

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come,

revealed, the son of perdition;
We are now living in great days of spiritual apostasy. Evil and baseness are being legalized and exalted on every side. Many have given themselves over to fables and myths as they have rejected sound Biblical doctrine. Personally, I never thought I would see the day when a person could "enjoy" and defend witchcraft while calling themselves a Christian. But those apostate days are upon us right now! This apostasy is a major sign of the nearness of the end of the age.
In these last days everyone must choose to accept or reject the Lord Jesus. God's people will be faithful and continue to walk in faith and obedience with the Lord Jesus. Others will do the opposite. What choice will you make as the end of this age draws near?

TIME TO STAND!
For those who profess to be Christians, it is now time to rid from your lives all occult entertainment and rock and roll music. It is time to back away from the worldly sins of the devil and make a committed stand to the Lord Jesus! If you are a believer who is saved and born-again, it is time to stand up for the Lord Jesus. Stay away from things the the Lord calls an abomination. Avoid sexual immorality, rock music, and occult entertainment (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, D&D type of games, occult computer games, occult books, occult tv/movies etc). To have one foot on the land of truth, and another on the sea of falsehood, will involve a terrible fall and a total ruin. Christ will be all or nothing. God fills the whole universe, and hence there is no room for another god; if, then, he reigns in my heart, there will be no space for another reigning power. Do I rest alone on Jesus crucified, and live alone for him? Is it my desire to do so? Is my heart set upon so doing? If so, blessed be the mighty grace which has led me to salvation; and if not so, O Lord, pardon my sad offence, and unite my heart to fear thy name.
