STANDING BEFORE GOD!

by Alan Yusko

One day we will all stand before God. Every knee will bow to the Lord Jesus. From the hardest hearted sinner to the blood-washed child of God, every knee will bow down!

How can a person be acceptable to the Lord? How can a person stand before God and be accepted even though all are sinners? The simple answer is through the Lord Jesus and his once and for all sacrifice on the cross.

THE BLOOD OF JESUS

The Bible says that the blood of Jesus cleanses a person from all sins. This means all the sins a person can commit from birth to death are washed clean in the blood the Lord Jesus shed on the cross. Of course one must accept the Lord Jesus as his Lord and Saviour for this to be true. A person must come to God on God's terms. Those terms are by accepting the Lord Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Here is what the Bible says about the blood:

1 John 1
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

ACCEPTING THE GIFT OF GOD

God has provided salvation as a free gift for all who will receive it. Salvation is freely given and can only be found in the Lord Jesus. There is no other way to be saved but by the Lord Jesus. All other so called pathways to God actually lead to death and an eternity separated from God in the lake of fire.

Rom 6
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Notice the following in the above verse:

1) Sin pays a wage and that wage is DEATH
2) Since we are all sinners, we have all earned the wages of sin. Everyone has the death penalty upon their heads because we are all sinners before a holy God.
3) Death includes two parts. Part one is the death of the body that everyone experiences. Part two is spiritual death when a person is forever lost and separated from God. That lost person will burn in torment forever in the lake of fire.
4) Good news! There is a gift from God. (a gift is freely given which is opposite from a wage which is earned)
5) Who is giving the gift? God is!
6) What is that gift? Eternal life. This means heaven and an eternity enjoying the presence of God!
7) How can a person receive God's gift of salvation. The end of the verse answers this: Through Jesus Christ our Lord!!!

IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS

God's salvation includes the blood of Jesus cleaning from all sin and God imputing righteousness to the believer. Here is what the Bible says:

Romans 4
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

The Lord Jesus bore our sins on the cross and He paid our penalty for sin. For those who believe and receive Him as their Lord and Saviour have their sins forgiven and are imputed righteousness. This means when we stand before the throne of God we will not be their on our own righteousness or merits. Instead God will see the righteousness of the Lord Jesus that has been imputed to us.

Christians are prepared to stand before God by the salvation of God which is found in the Lord Jesus and His finished work on the cross.

Col 1
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, [I say], whether [they be] things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in [your] mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Before God the Christian is: holy, unblameable, and unreproveable. Why and how is this done??? Look at verse 20 above. The blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin!

Do you have the Lord Jesus as your Saviour and Lord?
